Showdown at Raivataka Mountain

"Where we lived... was a wild and forgotten land, occupied only by copperhead snakes, okay? It was infested with them. But there was this old log cabin from the 1700s. And it was still standing. So I repurposed it and I settled. My wife and I, we had no electric, we had no car, we had nothing. We had a little baby team of oxen I was raising. We had a milk cow. And we had the desire... the desire to please Srila Prabhupāda. So that's what kept us on track in spite of so many difficulties."
"I lived up the road where the palace now is. We had  a sign there, advertising a new construction. So these guys jumped out of a truck and they ripped the sign off... They took the sign, they threw it in the truck, they come right down the road toward me. I couldn't believe it—I thought they'd turn around and go the other way—I was right there in the road. So I just took my bar, my post bar (for context, he had been putting up a fence post on the side of the road) and stood there in the road... and then they floored it and nearly drove over me and I just got out of the way, and they jumped out. But I said 'Excuse me, I was just wondering... could you give us back that sign that I just saw you take? And he said, 'We didn't take no sign... and we're the law in these parts... and you're a troublemaker... and we deal with troublemakers our own way.'

They had M16's, okay? And they just got into a crouch, they locked and loaded. He said 'On the count of 10, fire.' So I was standing there. My wife had thrown out this unloaded shotgun. I was standing there with this unloaded gun. And I was thinking to myself, 'Man, what a short life I've lived...' (full story here)

"As you are certainly aware, the battles that ensued were bloody and vicious, and of course, the Europeans were victorious and indigenous Americans were driven away. So that being said, this valley was not spared from those dark days. And the very last Indian massacre occurred here... right here. Yes, this is like our stronghold, huh? Not here on this exact spot, but according to the historical accounts that I have read, it was conducted as at the mouth of Stall's Run, okay? Which is where we cross over here."

"All right, there was a family named Tush. They had a homestead here. They were attacked by a band of Indians early in the morning. The husband was shot shot in the leg, but he got away, and he scrambled up the ledges over here on the other side of the creek to a log cabin. It may well be the very log cabin that I disassembled and brought back here. One of the Wesel brothers was living there, but the rest of the family was left at the mercy of the Indians, who spare no one, okay? They killed all the children. They swung the little girl by her feet against a stump. They scalped everybody. They left the little girl for dead along with the rest of them, but apparently she lived. They took the wife who was pregnant, and they went up Stall's Run for like eight miles. They were going to take her as a slave. But she, being pregnant, couldn't keep up. So they scalped her and left her, and some hunters found her body after some time. So the husband returned to the house in the morning to find that the pigs had gotten out and were rooting amongst the dead bodies of his family. So that happened right here." (full story here)
